Step 1: Generate Unique Product Code and Description
Start by creating a unique product code that distinguishes this product from others in your inventory.
Ensure that the product description is also unique. For instance, if you already have a product named "SOYSAUCE" with the description "Soy sauce 1 case," you cannot use the same description for a new product.
Step 2: Set Units of Measurement (UOM)
Determine the appropriate Unit of Measurement (UOM) for your product, such as Case, Box, Piece, etc.
Choose the relevant measurement that corresponds to the selected UOM.
Step 3: Configure UOM2 (Optional)
UOM2 allows for more complex unit conversions. Consider a scenario where you sell products in cases, and each case contains 12 bottles of soy sauce.
Define the relationship between UOM and UOM2. For example, set one case equal to 12 bottles.
This feature may not be currently utilized in the program but could be relevant in the future, so setting it up is recommended.
Step 4: Select Selling Method
Choose the appropriate selling method from the dropdown box:
Catch Weight: If each individual box has a unique weight, the sum of weights multiplied by the price yields the extended price. The program also verifies if the weight falls within the minimum and maximum range.
Fixed Weight: All boxes of the product have the same weight. The program assists in calculating the total weight based on the number of cases.
Qty (Quantity): Selling by the case without considering weight. The extended price is determined by multiplying the number of cases with the price.
Step 5: Assign Product Category
Select a product category that best fits the new product.
Note that if the product category is designated as "Charges," it will not be included in sales reports. For example, if you charge customers a transportation fee and categorize it as "Charge," it won't appear in sales reports.
Step 6: Choose Product Type
Determine the appropriate product type for the new product.
Step 7: Enter Additional Information (Optional)
Manually input the product's cost, current quantity, stock quantity minimum, stock weight minimum, and total weight (if applicable).
Leaving these fields blank is acceptable if you prefer not to enter the information.
